What we do with your data

Draft, to be reviewed by a lawyer

This notice explains in plain words what personal data the Lok Suraksha app collects and why. It is written in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

Who we are

Lok Suraksha is a citizen safety app for Gorakhpur. Under the Act, we are the "data fiduciary" for your personal data.

Legal name and address: [legal entity name and address]

What we collect

  • Your mobile number, to log you in.
  • Your reports: photo or video, GPS location, time, and anything you said.
  • Your ward, for the ward rankings.
  • Details needed for rewards, such as a number for a recharge or UPI, only when you claim a reward.
  • In Sakhi: the numbers of people you trust, your live location during an SOS or a ride, and audio recorded during an SOS.
  • Basic device details (like model and app version) to keep the app working and prevent misuse.

Why we collect it

  • To send your report to a police officer, Nagar Nigam or 112.
  • To check that a photo is live and a report is not a duplicate.
  • To show you the status of your reports and give you rewards.
  • To send your location to your trusted people and 112 in an emergency.

We use your data only for these purposes, with your consent.

Who we share it with

  • Traffic report photo, location and time: the police officer who reviews it.
  • City problems: Nagar Nigam, through IGRS.
  • Urgent cases and SOS: 112 and the people you chose.

The owner of a reported vehicle never sees your name or number.

We do not sell your data

We never sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.

Where it is stored

All data is stored on servers located in India.

Sakhi data is kept separate
